Voting in the Jazzconnect Vocal Jazz Competition officially begins in November, 2005. The competition will award prizes aimed at giving exposure to the artist's music and furthering the artist's career. The Grand Prize: > The 1st place winner will perform on the main stage at the 15th Annual FMJS East Coast Jazz Festival in Rockville MD, President's Day Weekend in February 2006. The winner will be accompanied by top musicians in the Washington DC metro area. The performance will be recorded live and a cd will be produced. The artist will receive 200 copies to sell or distribute and will have the option to acquire more copies at cost. The 1st place winner will also receive 2 nights at the Washington, DC Four Seasons Hotel during the time of the festival engagement and *transportation expenses. > Prizes for the 2nd and 3rd place finalists will be announced once the voting begins. |
| *Jazzconnect will provide a
round trip airline ticket for the winner to Washington DC from any major U.S.
city. If the winner is from outside the U.S., they are responsible for their
ticket to the U.S. and Jazzconnect will provide a ticket from the city of
arrival to Washington, DC. **Please note: The voting done on-line, by the international jazz community, will count for 50 percent of the vote. A panel of judges (professional musicians) will also vote and their vote will count for 50 percent of the vote. The finalists will be selected (the top scores) and the winner will be chosen from a final round of voting done entirely on-line. ***Due to the huge number of contestant last year, the length of the voting process was extended to give the judges enough time to listen to all of the contestants. This may happen again this year. |
