Kelley Suttenfield, jazz vocalist

Kelley Suttenfield is a vocalist in the classic jazz tradition, delivering soulful interpretations of lyrics over a smooth, swinging beat.

Her love of music was apparent at an early age. As a child, she performed as a soloist in church and school choirs, and won multiple Virginia state classical piano competitions. Before long, she was regularly appearing in community musical theatre productions. Later, while earning dual degrees in theatre arts and psychology, she garnered leading roles in university productions. But, ironically, it was while studying classical voice that she became enamored with jazz.

After relocating to New York City, she studied jazz interpretation with Jimmy Sigler, bebop with the Barry Harris workshop, and vocal technique with Phil Campanella. Recent Manhattan performances include The Duplex and Starbucks, as well as guest appearances at Anyway Café, CB’s Gallery, Corrado Café 68, and Spiral Lounge.
