Jazz Vocalist, Melissa Hamilton
Along with her former bandmates in the renowned vocal group, The Ritz, Melissa Hamilton is one of the newest additions to the Encyclopedia of Jazz -- having performed in countless jazz festivals and venues worldwide -- including the Blue Note clubs in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Jakarta, and NYC.
Her performance and recording credits are diverse from jazz legend Doc Cheatham to folk and blues icon David Bromberg and she is also an accomplished classical flutist.
With The Ritz, she recorded four CDs for the Denon label and produced their last recording, Almost Blue. It's been said of Melissa that she ...is a female vocalist far above the usual cut of jazz singers. Hear for yourself why versatility, technical control, delicacy of articulation, poetic sensitivity, and adventurous scat singing are just some of the terms used to describe her. Hear for yourself why listeners around the world have said she made the whole audience take notice, this woman can really sing!
