Yana Tioulkova

I, Yana Tioulkova, was born in 1977 in Dzerjinsk in family of musicians. I finished Music School, Music College and graduated from Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory as a classic pianist.

I started to play jazz at music school. My teacher was Lidia Khvelivitskaya, an Honoured Art Worker of Russia. In 1994 I participated in a contest of songwriters. I got the first place. In 1995 I got the second place in the Second All-Russia Competition of chamber ensembles in the nomination of a piano duet. In 1997 I took part in the pop-rock-blues festival-competition"Know us !". I became a laureate for the best female voice. I took part in the festivals:"Jazz Russia-98, 99, 2001","5 International Jazz Vocal Festival" (1999) and others.

In 2000 I recorded demo CD"Jazz Mood". In March 2001 I got a Scolarship from Berklee to participate in the Summer Performance Program, which was in July-August 2001 ( Lisa Thorson was my private teacher). At present time I collaborate with Nizhny Novgorod Big-Band directed by Michael Petropavlovskiy.
